DMX began to rap as early as the mid 1990s. In the month of May 1998, the rapper released his debut album, It's Dark and HELL IS HOT. He released many albums over his career, including... as well as And Then There was X... and then Redemption of the Beast grand champ... The Great Depression Year of the Dog... The album, titled ... and Then There Was X was also nominated to win a Grammy for the Best Rap Album category in 2001.
