Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer, and director. Her work has been recognized by film producers for roles like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. She won several awards like an Oscar for the film Piano. The actress of distinction began her career as an actor on the stage and has performed in numerous Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Enthusiastic about acting from her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. She became deaf in one ear due to mellitus, but didn't permit this to deter her drive to become an actor. In college she studied theatre and later moved to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart her first feature film. She was then moved into Los Angeles and tried to find the roles in films. In Swing Shift, she landed her first role as a character support. In the years since, she has been in several TV shows and films in an extensive career that spans over three decades. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and won Women in Film Lucy Award.
