Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards which included an Oscar. Actresses have an extensive history of working on Broadway as well as Off-Broadway projects. From her early years, she has been passionate about performing. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. As a result of having mumps, she went blind on the other side of her ear. This was not enough to stop her desire to become an actor. The college she attended was drama, and then moved between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dreams. Through a random encounter, she became stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which made Hunter's debut. Hunter made the move from New York to Los Angeles and tried to land films parts. In Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Her work spans over 30 years, and she's been featured in a variety of TV films or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and has been awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
